About Me

I am an author and writer with decades of experience in books, magazines, newspapers and writing for charities. My books are great for encouraging and inspiring children, teenagers, their schools and families.

I have just released Life After School: Dyslexic and Taking on the World! - a book about what happens when young people with dyslexia leave school, written in their own words. I've also released Different Like Us! a book about children who feel different for all kinds of reasons, from ADHD, to autism, physical disabilities, being young carers, refugees, losing a parent and much more. Both are widely available.

My book, You can Change the World! Everyday Teen Heroes Making a Difference Everywhere, was written to inspire teenagers to make the changes they want to see in their own lives and in the world around them. This won a Gold Medal for Multicultural Nonfiction in the Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards in the USA. It was chosen to support young people with their mental health for the Reading Well Scheme in the UK.

Meet the Dyslexia Club!, Dyslexia is my Superpower (Most of the Time) and Creative, Successful, Dyslexic, all show that with the right support, focus and hard work, dyslexia need not hold you back.

When I'm not writing books, I write for charities. I also write short autobiographies, so do let me know if you’d like me to write about one of your family members or loved ones. Everyone has a story worth telling and preserving.

In a previous life, I was a columnist on the Telegraph Saturday Magazine, Contributing Editor at Options magazine and Senior Features Writer on Woman’s Own magazine. Most of my working days now are spent listening to others and encouraging them while they tell their stories. There's nothing I’d rather do.
